The American Legion Family, Post #159, and the Town of Chincoteague, are pleased to kick off the 6th year of the Hometown Heroes Banner Program.

Hometown Heroes honor United States Armed Forces Active Duty Military and Veterans by displaying personalized patriotic banners throughout the town beginning Memorial Day until they are presented to the honoree or honorees family on Veterans Day. 103 banners were displayed in 2019.

2020 banner applications are available at the American Legion Post #159, Chincoteague Town Office and the Chincoteague Chamber of Commerce.  Applications must be received, together with your $40 application fee, no later than April 1st.  Please make checks payable to the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #159.  Applications may be taken to the American Legion Post #159 or mailed to Lynda Hesen, 4210 Division Street, Chincoteague, VA 23336. Any questions please call 757-894-1356.

Previous years honorees are invited to submit an application again in 2020. If your banner is not in condition to display again, please note on your application that a replacement banner will be needed.  Otherwise, take your banner to the Chincoteague Town Office no later than April 1st.
